Opening Statement of the 1975 Global Festival
There is only one path for Japan to follow if it is to move into
the future amidst peace, the path of establishing strong bonds of
friendship with all other countries.
Following the precepts of our Founding Philosophy we now wish to
broaden the scope of our activities even further and form friendship
associations with every country in the world as well as engaging
in cultural and student exchange programs.
We would also like to help people, both inside and outside of Japan,
who are suffering from poverty, war or natural disasters. We would
like to do many things for the welfare of the world's peoples.
All Japan Youth English Oratorical Contest
for the Mayor of Honolulu Trophy
The All Japan Youth English Oratorical Contest for the Mayor of
Honolulu Trophy is open to all Japanese high school and college/university
students. We firmly believe that today's youth will play important
roles in the future global society. The main idea of the contest
is to make
participants aware of various problems faced by Japan and other
nations, think about them, and find ways to solve them. At the same
time, the students' English ability is enhanced by participating
in the contest. This oratorical contest is now the largest in scale
and highest in quality in the entire country. The contest is supported
by more than 20 educational and other institutions both in Japan
and abroad. The themes of the past thirty-six contests are
as follows. |
